October Evening Program

This event is jointly sponsored by fellow FABS member, the William Morris Society of America.

Emery Walker was a major, yet shadowy figure in the worlds of printing, typography, and graphic design. Walker’s contributions, including work with William Morris’s Kelmscott Press and Walker’s own Dove Press, helped determine the design ethos of the twentieth century and beyond. Simon Loxley’s most recent book brings forth Walker’s life and career in all its dimensions. Simon is himself a graphic designer and author of numerous books on typography and design history, and he designed and edited Ultrabold, the journal of London’s St Bride Library. In 2017 he was the recipient of a Research Fellowship of the Humanities from the Harry Ransom Center, which holds an extensive Emery Walker archive.

Copies of Emery Walker: Arts, crafts, and a world in motion, with a signed bookplate for the occasion, will be available for the first 20 who order on the Caxton Club site for $60.00, which includes tax and shipping. All books purchased through the Caxton Club site will require credit card payment prior to shipment. Additional books with signed plates will be available through October 25 at Oak Knoll www.oakknoll.com using the discount code LOXLEY20.

The presentation is free, but advance registration by 10/19/20 is required for delivery of the Zoom instructions.

All Evening Programs will begin at 6:30 PM CT via Zoom. The events will consist of quality Zoom presentations with real-time Q&A features immediately following those presentations.
